New Developments – Prayer

I have been meditating on 2 Corinthians 4 this week.  Verse 1 stands out to me today:

2 Corinthians 4:1. Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

God has given me the ministry of “mom,” a ministry of great influence and power in Christ, a ministry that is so rewarding yet challenging, a ministry like no other.  Recently God gifted to Bob and I, the ministry of Charlie.  It is an honor, a delight, a challenge, a heart-breaker, exhausting, exciting, tearful, painful, and joy-filled ministry.  How could I put all those words together in one sentence to describe this newly assigned ministry to Charlie?  Well, it reaches both ends of the emotional spectrum, I love Charlie and yet this is so hard…Thankfully God’s word has assured me that I have received and am receiving the MERCY that I need to mother my Charlie.  In my own strength I would faint, but by the unending mercies that are made new each morning- verse 1 tells me I faint not!  I FAINT NOT!  I have been given the mercy I need for this ministry, and you have been given the mercy you need for the ministry God has called you too as well!  Let’s take heart- and NOT faint!

Today was was filled with surprises as Charlie appears to have two small walled off pockets of infection from the original perf..  One near the old chest tube site and one near the liver.  So, we started a new antibiotic to go after those.  My nurse was able to drain most of the one by the tube site, which was a praise.  Tomorrow, an upper GI study should disclose if these are isolated or if something is still leaking into chest cavity.  The study should clarify what the next step towards healing is and if surgery is required, what needs to happen.

Prayer requests remain the same from last post.  A million thank you’s and hugs to so many of you that are helping us, supporting us, cooking for us, praying for us, encouraging us, and just loving us through this difficult time.  Lord willing, I hope to one day soon put my happy healthy little boy into the arms of those of you who have ministered to us, and so fervently prayed- so you too can enjoy the blessing that Charlie is!imager
