The information we have received from the stomach study this morning is that Charlie’s stomach repair was successful and he does have a duodenal atresia. The atresia is a narrowing of a place in the duodenum between the stomach and the small intestine the doesn’t allow any or much to pass through. This is a very common issue to accompany sweet down’s babies. From here we need the two little walled off infections to clear before the next surgery to repair the atresia. After that surgery we can remove the ventilator and begin feeding! Thank you for the many prayers on Charlie’s behalf. Though there are still some miles ahead of us, he is doing very well. Many comment on how good he looks and the amazing progress we have made.
