Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.
Abba, Father, King of the Universe, we worship You in spirit and in truth. Along with the armies of heaven, I declare: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come! You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist. Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne. And to the Lamb, forever and ever!. Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory! (Love you Savta!)
The report from the surgeon and the anesthesiologists is ALL is absolutely amazing! Everything went seamlessly and Charlie has responded beautifully. He is getting settled in his room now and then we can go see him. All indicators are that he will have a smooth and full recovery!!!
Oh dear friends, thank you for joining us in prayer for Charlie today! We will keep you posted. We will have a few days of closely monitored recovery in the cardiac ICU and then back up to our sweet primary mama nurses. They told us to expect a dip in the next 12 hours, but otherwise should be OK.
PRAISE BE TO GOD! His heart is back up and running with a roar!!! It started up with vigor. No leaks! Regular rhythm! Closing him up now and headed down to the cardiac floor to hear from the surgeon. Thank you Jesus…
Esther, the update nurse just came to tell us that Charlie is doing really well. They have repaired the valve and are patching the septum now. The most critical step in the whole process is coming within the hour- warming the heart back up again to begin beating and processing the blood. Please pray that Charlie’s heart jumps back in the game eagerly and proficiently.
The first test they performed before they began on the heart came back favorably. They did a “bronch” to check his airway which showed moderate inflammation, this is a praise!
Go little Lion-Heart!
(PHOTO: a diagram of the repair that is happening now. Dividing the single valve into two and patching the missing wall between the two chambers)
Charlie and I snuggled and I kissed him until it was time…He was bright eyed and attentive as I told him where he was going and what was happening. He seemed ready. Your prayers helped uphold me as they exited with Charlie to go to the operating room. His anesthesiologists are VERY wonderful people as is everyone on the team for Charlie today. I couldn’t be more thankful! Charlie left a little ahead of schedule at about 9:50am and should be out by 2pm or so.
The love and prayers that pour in are like balm to us:
Thank you M: Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Isaiah 26:3-4 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
Psalm 103:1-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.
Psalm 29:11 May the Lord give strength to His people, may He bless His people with peace!
Thank you M: In the name of Your Son, Father, please send comfort and strength to Charlie, give wisdom and discernment to those caring for him, send Your comforting peace and powerful presence to surround Debbie that she may know that You attend to her every care, doubt, fear, and question, and bless her and Bob both, endowing them by Your Spirit to walk in joy, to rest in Your providence, to speak with love from a heart of thanksgiving, and increase their faith. Show them Your face, speak to their hearts, and wrap them in Your loving arms, Daddy. We trust You. We love You. In Jesus’ name, we petition you. Hear our cry, Lord, for Your namesake.
Thank you S: I am reminded this morning that we have a God who HEARS! “I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.” Begging the Author of life, Deliverer, Redeemer, Savior for Charlie this morning! ❤️
Thank you N:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31
Thank you for praying for Charlie this morning little mountain men:
Thank you C: I praise the Lord with all that is within me and do not forget any of His benefits. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases; He redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion. Yeshua satisfies my desires with good things so that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Yeshua brings me to health and healing. He heals me and lets me enjoy abundant peace and security. The Son of Righteousness arises for me with healing in His wings and I go out and leap like a calf released from the stall. Yeshua bore my sins in His body on the cross so that I might die to sin and live to righteousness.Now by His stripes I am healed. As my days are, so shall my strength be.
Yeshua sent forth His Word and healed me; He rescued me from the grave. When I cry out, the Lord hears me; He delivers me from my troubles. The Lord is close to me when I am brokenhearted and saves me when I am crushed in spirit. He has not given me a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. I am His beloved and He is mine.
Sweet dreams little lion cub, 🦁we will all stand guard over you until you get through this next challenge.👼
Love and kisses

We are praying for your family that all of you would be comforted by the peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding.
Thanks C: Memories. 😢 Please know that I am praying and will continue throughout the day.
I found great comfort in the word as you do. This morning Psalm 139 came to mind. Perhaps you will find comfort in it as well.
Thanks B:May the God of all comforts keep your mind and hearts in Christ Jesus. He is able to deliver thee!
Thanks B: We’re praying for Charlie, and for his parents, brothers, and sisters. May the Lord work an amazing healing and testimony through this trial!
Thanks P: We are lifting up little Charlie today and know that underneath Him are the everlasting arms of His loving Father.
Thanks B: We will definitely be praying for our dear and precious little brother Charlie, his doctors, nurses, you and your family, and the specific prayer requests that you mentioned. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
Thanks M: We will fervently pray before, during, and after his surgery today! I’m sorry none of our family has been able to make it up to the hospital to see and meet your precious little warrior; please know that Charlie, you, and your family are constantly in our prayers. Trusting in our Great Physician!
Standing in prayer with you today, sweet friend!
These verses were an encouragement to me this morning, may they strengthen your faith as well!
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”
Psalms 46:1-7, 10-11
I love you!!!
Thanks E: Amen! His mercy endures FOREVER! Lifting up our precious little warrior!

I can’t wait to see that beautiful face and hear that beautiful heart beating strong, healthy and normal. Your family has been so amazing through all of this! Charlie could not be more blessed! We love you guys so so so much!!! We will be excited to hear from you!!!!!!
Thanks B: An honor to be able to pray for Charlie. Can’t wait to meet him.
I am fillled w/ emotion around all of this. Seems like Charlie has lived a lifetime of opposition in his short beginning. The beauty about today is that he awoke to his new mercies, without fear, & embraced His Father’s hand to journey another day. I see the manifold power of covenant love so profoundly in Charlie’s life. He trusts & has no sleeplessness or worry about today. It’s a moment to moment discovery of the abundant life instead of frivolous fret or dread over what ifs. Today, Charlie inspires me to walk free & to embrace an unfailing love, a bond woven & spun in an eternal realm, which unfolds the path of life that pleases the King of Victory. Ps 25:3-5 For how could anyone be disgraced when they’ve entwined their hearts with you? But they will all be defeated and shamed when they harm the innocent. Lord, direct me throughout my journey, so I can experience your plans for my life. Reveal the life paths that are pleasing to you. Escort me along the way, take me by the hand and teach me, for you are the God of my increasing salvation, I have wrapped my heart into yours!
We did FaceTime with the children at home this morning. They sang “Jesus Loves You” to Charlie as he rested up for surgery. It filled the love tanks for all…especially mama.
I can already feel the flow of prayers going up on Charlie’s behalf…thank you! Charlie is getting geared up for what is a huge and hopefully course altering surgery tomorrow. There is a lot that goes on before a surgery and we have been busy with all the preparation, signing papers, listening to plans, discussing options, and hoping for the future. Tomorrow at 10am the anesthesiologist so will pick up our boy and take him downstairs for his heart repair. This repair is one of the more common repairs but it is still major. We will be in the cardiac intensive care unit for a few days before we return back to the regular NICU where all of Charlie’s favorite nurses are.
My oldest brother, Charlie’s Uncle Paul came from Idaho to meet Charlie for the first time. He has been praying and loving over the past months from many miles away and it was sweet for them to meet and for me to get some time with my big bro. I love you Paul! Thanks for all of your encouragement and your good example.
Thank you for all the emails and texts and visits that have encouraged us deeply as we walk through the next stage of this journey with our sweet little lionhearted boy. The Lord has been so faithful to us and we give him glory ahead of time for all He is doing and will do.
From the “F” ladies- We love you!
We cry out, on your behalf and on behalf of Charlie, David’s words in Psalm 16 and Paul’s words in Colossians 3:
Preserve Charlie, O God.
Preserve the Fine Family, for they put their trust in You.
O souls, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord!”
O LORD, You are the portion of the Fine’s inheritance and their cup;
You maintain their lot.
The lines have fallen to them in pleasant places;
Yes, they have a good inheritance in YOU!!
We know they are blessing the LORD, who is giving them counsel;
Their hearts also instruct them in the night seasons.
Day by day they set the LORD always before them;
And because You are at their right hand – they shall not be moved.
May their hearts be glad and their glory in You cause great rejoicing.
May their flesh and little Charlie’s rest in hope.
For you do not leave us in the abode of the dead;
And as Jesus Christ saw no corruption,
so those whose lives are hidden away in Christ in God
will be raised with Him, made alive together with Him.
When Christ, who is our life, appears,
then we also will appear with Him in glory.
That IS the path of life,
having our hearts of stone replaced with a hearts of flesh.
It is the path that leads to the kingdom of Heaven
Where we all will have fullness of joy in His presence;
And at the right hand of God, pleasures forevermore.
Blessed be our great God who is daily bearing your burdens.
We ask for His perfect work and mercy for Charlie and you all.
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
The heart is amazing. The heart is vital. The physical heart confounds even the finest of surgeons who know how to repair it and have held quite a few in their hands. I do marvel at the physical heart- and even more so over the last 6 months as I have come to understand more about it. I am amazed at all that it does and the effect it has on the whole system, whether good or bad.
Though the physical heart and it’s ability to be deemed sick, to be operated on and fixed, to heal, and to become full functioning again is amazing…it has caused me to realize how much MORE amazing it is that God can take the sick and stony heart of a man and heal it into a heart of flesh! He can take our sick hearts and make them WHOLE:
Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
John 3:16-17 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Oh I am so grateful for God’s masterful ability to take a sick heart like mine, like Charlie’s, like yours and make it WHOLE in HIM.
Charlie has few problems in his physical heart that have made his first months more challenging. Thankfully his heart has been very strong and stable despite it’s limitations. The day has finally come that we get to utilize and glorify God for the amazing advancements in medicine to bring more wholeness to Charlie’s little physical body. Tuesday at 10am Charlie will undergo major open heart surgery to repair his precious little heart. I will be sure to ask the surgeon to keep his eyes open for Jesus as he repairs Charlie’s heart (per Naomi’s request). We covet your prayers as we prepare for this big day, for the surgery, and for a smooth recovery. The greatest concern for Charlie is his risk for infection due to his other issues below the heart. Even though those issues have not resolved and it increases his risks during the heart repair, the time is right and the repair needs to happen for Charlie to begin to heal and move forward.
We are grateful that the doctors have allowed us special permission to take the family to visit Charlie today (Naomi’s birthday) before surgery. The children are bubbling over with joy and excitement to see their brother.
1)Charlie would stay well prior to surgery
2)Surgery prep and surgery would go smoothly
4)That this repair would aid in Charlie’s overall healing and progress.
5)That Charlie’s lung function and profusion would improve greatly and thrive after the heart surgery. This is a vital component to Charlie’s healing.
5)That MANY would come to understand the skill of JESUS’ hand to heal their stony and sick hearts- to WHOLE and HEALTHY spiritual hearts!
We love each of you and our family is grateful for your love and interest in Charlie’s journey and healing…may God richly bless you for caring for one of the least of these! (Matthew 25:4)
Tonight I am dreaming…as my other nine precious children sleep (and maybe dream too), I am dreaming of bringing you home. The thought gives me the chills. It tears up in my eyes. It gives me a smile. It delights me to the core. I dream of having you here with all of us where you will be loved A LOT, you will hear A LOT of other voices, you will smell meals A LOT, you will see faces A LOT -that look a little like yours, you will be held A LOT, you will be taught A LOT, you will play A LOT, sing A LOT, A LOT, A LOT, A LOT of life happens here in this home- and I dream of the day you are back here with us again.
As I battle my thoughts of discouragement tonight. I wonder how we will get you here? I wonder how we will climb the mountains ahead? I wonder when we will “turn a corner?” Meanwhile, I am encouraged by the Dreams of actually getting you home! I am encouraged by the visions of our sweet little 1 year-old Charlie smiling as we sing “happy birthday to you!” I am encouraged as I think of our 2 year-old Charlie swinging from the big pine tree in our back yard with giggles erupting from your belly. I am encouraged as I picture 3 year-old Charlie running and playing with your siblings. I am encouraged as I dream of 4 year-old Charlie distributing hugs to those of us in need. Charlie, I could use one of your big hugs right now…but I will wait, I will walk, I will continue to fight for your life, I will pray, I will trust, I will love you! You are worth it! You are beyond worth it! And while I wait to feel one of those 4 year-old Charlie hugs- Christ hugs me. He strengthens me. He sustains me. And HE is doing the same for you sweet Charlie boy.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Two year-old Enid asked us if your sickness was “almost done?” We told her that we hope so. She still sleeps with your picture hanging by her crib. It was the only thing that consoled her after you left for the hospital. She would cry every time she was put to bed while asking for you. Thankfully Savannah thought of a brilliant idea to put your picture where she could see you and kiss you every night. She never cried again. We are all in this together Charlie and we are ALL fighting with you. You have a lot to look forward to sweet boy…let’s get you home!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, Heb. 12:1
Today the Lord graciously reminded me of HIS grand magnificence and love. The front desk called to tell me I had some visitors. When I arrived out front I didn’t recognize these precious people, but immediately knew they were a part of Charlie’s army-the precious saints that span the globe who are praying for Charlie. I hugged them and quickly learned that he and his wife live in the small town in Kansas where my mom grew up. He is the pastor of my aunt and uncle’s church there. He told me that they pray for Charlie on Sunday and throughout the week. He updates his congregation on Charlie’s status regularly and they PRAY! These faithful people (most of whom I haven’t met) have linked arms with us in this battle for Charlie and life! What an overwhelming gift, a humbling knowledge that they are excited about being a part of one of what God is doing in a little boy in Colorado!
He also shared with us about a young man in their church that has been such a BRIGHT spot and a JOY. A young man named Kevin, also with DS. He shared with us how he LOVES PEOPLE, HUGS, SMILES, and LOVES JESUS- I cried as he told me about his simple faith and desire to be baptized, which he was. Aunt Claire, I know you have been enlisting prayer WARRIORS on our behalf, contacting all the faithful friends you know that will pray alongside us…thank you! Thank you for introducing us to these special visitors today that encouraged my socks off. They spoke life-giving words, prayed over Charlie, and made a special delivery of love from a community 500 miles away that is bearing this burden with us. Wow, God!
Thank you to my sister-in-love and some dear friends in CA for sending me these encouragements. They couldn’t be more accurate. Another friend once called her biggest trial…her friend. Her friend? YES! A friend. Anything that causes us to lean on, love, trust, seek, admire, worship, and adore our Lord Jesus Christ more…is truly a FRIEND. Thank you to this marathon of all marathon’s of a trial, you are a friend, you have drawn me to the arms of my Savior, like never before. Friend, I will never be the same because of the difficulties you have laid in my lap. Friend, you have stretched me beyond my boundaries into territories I didn’t even know existed! And friend, it is there that my faith is deepened- because GOD is even there! Friend, you are a good friend, and I will never look back on you with PTSD because some of my greatest moments of growth and joy have been birthed from you. Oh loving father, thank you for bringing this friend into my life and may it be marked as a pillar of strength in my family where they can always gaze and remember your kindness, gentleness, care, love, presence, might, power, and faithfulness in this time. It is crystal clear.
“My Father’s way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache,
But in my soul I’m glad to know,
He maketh no mistake.
My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away,
But I’ll trust my Lord to lead
For He doth know the way.
Tho’ night be dark, and it may seem
That day will never break,
I’ll pin my faith, my all in Him,
He maketh no mistake.
There’s so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight’s far too dim;
But come what may, I’ll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.
For by and by the mist will lift
And plain it all He’ll make,
Through all the way, tho’ dark to me
He made not one mistake.”

Charlie is so calm and content tonight. We snuggled and I marveled at his beautiful freshly bathed hair and skin. If it weren’t for the bandage on his belly, you’d think he might wake up and be ready to go home! I dream of the day. Until then, we rest in God’s sovereign care as we walk this road patiently hoping for health to be restored. He is such a treasure and his siblings are itching to have him in their presence again!
Thank you to those of you that prayed and/or fasted with us today in spite of the cancelled surgery. We love you!
